Massasoit Combats Unemployment with Spring Job Fair

For people struggling to find employment, Massasoit is looking to help.

On Wednesday April 5th, the college will hold its 2017 Spring Job Fair in an effort to assist students and community members in finding job opportunities.

The fair will be held in the Upper Lounge of the Student Center Building on the Brockton campus, and will run from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.

The event is sponsored by Massasoit Career Services, an office dedicated to career development for students and alumni of Massasoit.

The Job Fair is mainly intended for students who will be graduating this year, although it is open to the public and may be attended by alumni or community members as well.

Over forty employers will be attending, from a variety of backgrounds including food services, childcare, banking, health services, and retail. While many of the positions are full-time, part-time jobs and internships are also available, and it is recommended that those are interested in such opportunities inquire with employer representatives.

The complete list of employers attending the Job Fair may be found here.

Business attire and an updated rèsumè are required in order to attend, with multiple rèsumè copies being encouraged. For men, wearing a suit or a blazer with a tie and slacks is recommended. Women are encouraged to either wear a suit or a blazer and skirt.

For tips on drafting or updating a rèsumè, Career Services has created a comprehensive guideline, which may be found here.

In addition, a guide on dressing up and interviewing techniques is located here.

Besides holding the Job Fair, Career Services sponsors job-search workshops and assists with updating rèsumès, as well as setting up interviews.

The Career Services office is located on the Brockton Campus, in the lower level of the Student Center. They may also be reached at 508-588-9100 x1406.
